Utilitarian ceramics were made from clay milled on Failika Island in the Arabian Gulf waters, which once housed 20 kilns. Fired vessels were shipped to the mainland and used to store food and water or modified into musical instruments. Clay censers were used to burn fragrant perfumes and incense.
